For the first time in the Ethiopian Banking Industry and unique to African Banks’ practice, Hibret Bank has successfully implemented its latest version core banking system and online banking platform entirely and fully in-house - all by its own IT Team. The scope of the project covered CORE Banking – Conventional, CORE Banking – Islamic, Loan Origination System; and Internet Banking (Oracle Digital Experience – ODBX). This in-house expertise has saved the bank not to about 700 to 800 thousands USD a minimum which is around 25 to 26 million Birr.

The Bank went live with this latest system version of Oracle (called FLEXCUBE and OBDX ver. 14.3) effective April 1, 2020. The system grants a new and advanced online banking experience to the Bank’s customer base of over a million clients. It will also excel the Bank’s service as over 315 branches of the bank are now backed up with the new system. Once again, Hibret Bank encourages customers to use electronic banking services to fight the corona pandemic.
